About this Event
Elliot’s Ride for Everyone is your chance to ride along Newport's scenic coastline, free of cars!
This is the one day of the year when everyone comes out to enjoy one of the loveliest rides in the region outside, on the road, safely and with confidence. Please visit the Elliot's Ride information page for more information.
Bring your family and friends - roll, stroll, hike, pedal. This wonderful community event is FREE to attend - donations are very welcome and support Bike Newport's bike safety education initiatives honoring the memory of Elliot Kaminitz.
You'll see two ticket types as you register: one to register participants, and the other to add an optional donation to the Elliot Kaminitz Bike Safety Fund. Thank you!
Parking is available in the lot behind Rogers, accessed from Old Fort Rd and at Brenton Point State Park. You can also extend your biking experience by riding to the event, including from many Park & Bike locations.
We'll gather at 8:45am, on the lawn in front of Rogers High School across from Hazard Road, for a brief welcome.
At 9am, Newport Police will close the route to cars - including the length of Hazard Road, through the Goose Neck Salt Marsh, and Ocean Avenue from Carroll Avenue to Harrison Avenue. At 12pm, cars will again enter the roadway so you’ll want to be safely off the road before that time.
We're grateful to the Kaminitz Family for making the event possible through their charitable support.
Note to area residents living on the route: Residents with urgent need to bring their vehicle onto the route during the event should call the Newport Police at (401) 847-1306. If you have any question in advance of the event, feel free to contact Allyson McCalla at Bike Newport at (401) 619-4900.
- To reduce waste, please do not print tickets for this event. For our planning purposes it's very helpful for all to pre-register, though drop-ins are also welcome.
- Please be sure to bring and wear a helmet.
- Please send us your photos of the event! Tag @bikenewportri on your social posts, or e-mail to [email protected].

About Elliot: Elliot's Ride for Everyone honors the life and passion of Dr Elliot Kaminitz - a much-loved community member who lost his life while riding on Memorial Blvd in 2012. Elliot wanted everyone to experience the joy of bicycling - and that's exactly what we will do in his honor!
