About this Event
"Singin' & Swingin'" features songs made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Burt Bacharach, Etta James, The Andrews Sisters, Bobby Darin, Michael Buble, Cole Porter and others. Krista Jo Wells, Kirsten Beach-Whiteley and her husband Colin will display their vocal talents in one of our most popular programs of the year. Bring out the kids and the grandparents to share an afternoon of entertaining music at the historic Andy Griffith Playhouse in Mount Airy.
The Elkin Big Band is an 18-piece jazz orchestra from Elkin, NC. They play big band jazz reminiscent of Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, and Stan Kenton. Their repertoire includes more than 150 jazz classics. Since 1982, the Elkin Big Band has been bringing big band jazz to the Yadkin River Valley and surrounding communities. They are the only home grown big band in northwest North Carolina and like to think of themselves as "The best small town big band in America!"
