Join us for an evening with the amazing Eliza Clark and Heather Darwent. To celebrate the paperback release of Penance Eliza will be in conversation with Heather, author of The Things We Do To Our Friends.

Longlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize 2024, Penance is a brilliantly constructed novel that . Using witness accounts, interviews and correspondence as part of the narrative, Clark's cleverly-constructed novel delves into the shocking M**der of a 16-year-old in a sleepy seaside town, exploring just how slippery the quest for truth can become.
Eliza Clark is the author of Boy Parts and Penance. In 2022 Clark was chosen as a finalist for the Women’s Prize Futures Award for writers under thirty-five and in 2023 was names one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists. A stage adaptation of Boy Parts premiered at Soho Theatre in October 2023.
Heather Darwent is the author of The Things We Do To Our Friends. An intoxicating feminist page-turner with shades of The Secret History and Promising Young Woman, this novel will take youon a journey from Edinburgh's dazzling spires to the dripping staircases and dark alleyways of its underbelly. Perfect reading for all fans of If We Were Villains, Darwent's deliciously nasty debut is a jet-black slice of dark academia revolving around a toxic friendship at Edinburgh University.
