The spring concert of the U-M Life Sciences Orchestra will feature the 150-member UMS Choral Union. Special guest solo vocalists include Tyrese Byrd (Tenor), Danielle Casós (Mezzo Soprano), and Stephen West (Bass-Baritone). Rarely performed in the United States, but beloved in England, "The Dream of Gerontius" is a stirring oratorio by English composer Edward Elgar that features orchestra and choir, along with a text adapted from a John Henry Newman poem.
The LSO, conducted by Nicholas Bromilow, and the UMS Choral Union, directed by Scott Hanoian, will join forces for this very special free performance, which will also include Benjamin Britten's "An American Overture", conducted by Michael Roest.
A pre-concert lecture will be held in the lower lobby beginning at 6:45pm.
