About this Event
This energy-packed new musical with an upbeat yet introspective book by critically acclaimed St. Louis playwright Colin McLaughlin tackles the climate crisis head-on. It does so with the musical genius of Ryan Marquez, whose genre-blending score takes the audience on a journey from elation to reflection in a matter of measures. The narrative follows a group of vigilante climate activists who take over all radio broadcasting to spread an urgent message of environmental preservation through the power of song. At the center of the piece, stands St. Louis legend, Anita Jackson in the starring role of Sugar. Jackson and Marquez are back at it again with their epic collaboration as Anita serves as both leading actor and music director.
At the helm of the creative team sits AAC Artistic Director, Kathryn Bentley. Bentley’s brilliant directorial guidance will lead this stacked cast of St. Louis favorites through the script’s journey of unbridled joy and urgent concern for this planet we all call home.
