Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, better known as Paracelsus (1493–1541), was a Swiss physician, alchemist, and philosopher whose work redefined the boundaries of natural philosophy in the early modern period. His theories on the four elements and the Tria Prima (three primary substances) formed the cornerstone of his alchemical and medical worldview. This talk delivered by Dr Darren Hill explores Paracelsus’s elemental correspondences, their metaphysical foundations, and their implications for the relationship between humanity and nature.
