This class is designed for women who are ready to build on their Electrical 101 foundation and expand their understanding of more advanced electrical systems in their home. It focuses on giving you the confidence to approach more complex projects with clarity, safety, and a calm decision-making attitude. Topics include practical information on:• 3- and 4-way switches
• swapping out light fixtures
• installing a ceiling fan
• hardwiring a smoke detectors
Each workshop begins with an introduction to tools and concepts, and you'll go home with plenty of resources to help further your electrical understanding! The goal of this workshop is to build a comfort level with the systems in your own home and to help you make informed decisions when talking with a contractor. All skill levels are encouraged.
Dress appropriately for working around power tools. (Closed-toe shoes, tie back long hair, etc.) Class limit is 10 attendees. February classes are held indoors. Our construction classes fill quickly; please register ASAP to avoid disappointment!
SPECIAL SERIES UPDATE: This is our 201 workshop. NOTE: Completion of Electrical 101 IS a PREREQUISITE for Electrical 201.
Class fee is $40.
INSTRUCTORS: This class is taught by industry professionals, and offered through Central Ohio Women in the Trades. COWIT is a nonprofit organization focused on the education, recruitment, and retention of women within the various trade unions around central Ohio.
