The Classical Theatre Company kicks off its 18th season – “Sad Plays for Sad Days” – with a return to the Greeks in Sophocles’ iconic tragedy, ELECTRA. Springing from ancient Greek myth, the play follows the title character as she struggles with her grief and thirst for revenge following the murder of her father, Agamemnon, at the hands of her mother, Clytaemnestra, and her mother's lover, Aegisthus. Consumed by her grief and fury, Electra is determined to avenge her father's death, even as she is relegated to being treated as a slave. Her long-lost brother, Orestes, returns from exile and the siblings plot a bloody revenge on their father's killers.
