Eleanor Buckland made her start as one-third of Lula Wiles, the Boston-based folk-rock trio that became an acoustic music scene favorite with their three critically hailed albums, the most recent two released on Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. Now living in Durham, NC, the singer songwriter has turned to a new page as a solo artist. Buckland’s debut album You Don’t Have To Know (released October 2021 on Soundly Music) sets her deeply personal songs against inventive indie rock arrangements.
Born and raised in Maine, Buckland comes from a family full of musicians. Her grandmother, Betty Buckland, was prominent in the New England bluegrass scene, while her father, Andy Buckland, played electric guitar in Boston area bands. It’s not surprising then that someone who grew up playing bluegrass fiddle music as well as singing along to Michelle Branch and Sheryl Crow in the car would wind up with varied musical tastes – something Buckland clearly demonstrates on her solo debut and in her live shows.

Chessa Rich is a NC-raised musician based in Durham. Her informed rule-breaking songwriting is steeped in a past of musical collaboration and a gentle persistence to discover oneself in community. Rich is a versatile collaborator, performing with Hiss Golden Messenger, Tift Merritt, and Skylar Gudasz as well as recording with producer Nick Sanborn (Sylvan Esso, Made of Oak) and Shane Leonard (Anna Tivel, Mipso). Her full-length debut "Deeper Sleeper" is out now on Carrboro, NC’s Sleepy Cat Records.
