All materials from Maydel are optional to order if the student wishes to use needles, threads, etc. that they may already have, with the exception of the screen printed design on a silk ground fabric and instruction packet, these two items will be required.

About the Artist:
Lauren Yeager a textile artist with a particular interest in studying and preserving historical garments and embroidery.
My love of handwork started in 2013. After having received a BFA in Fashion Design from Columbia College Chicago, I began learning and utilizing traditional hand embroidery techniques with the Royal School of Needlework in the UK. In the years to follow, I studied traditional Japanese embroidery with the Japanese Embroidery Center in Atlanta, GA, and also studied with Ecole Lesage in France.
After stepping out of my role as a core team production assistant for the visual artist Nick Cave, working in his Chicago studio to produce Sound-Suits and installation pieces for museums and private collections, I began my fulltime hand embroidery teaching career for the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design.
I have extensive experience working as a freelance artist and designer, assisting in costume production for various performances and competitions, in addition to public exhibitions of my work. Throughout my career as a textile artist, I have received multiple awards for construction and design in costume and in hand embroidery, including multiple DCASE individual artist grants from the City of Chicago.
In 2024, I decided to move my in-person practice fully to Chicago and focus on cultivating my brand.
