Elastic Catapult Workshop (Girls Only)

This workshop session is reserved for girls only. There is a co-ed workshop happening at Highland Park Library on 9 July.

In this workshop, kids will design, build, and test elastic-powered catapults using simple materials. By adjusting the number and arrangement of popsicle sticks, they will explore how elasticity and deflection affect force, distance, and projectile motion. They will then compete in a fun “Flying Pom Poms” pyramid cup challenge. Along the way, participants will learn about elastic, potential, and kinetic energy while developing problem-solving skills.

Note: if your child can no longer attend, please cancel the booking to allow the opportunity to be given to another child.

Robogals is a student-run global organisation started in 2008 with the mission to inspire and empower young women to pursue STEM fields. We do this by running hands-on workshops at schools and libraries around Auckland. These are run by volunteers from the University of Auckland.
