Come and join us to explore the music and dance of Son Cubano, the father of Salsa. We will start with a 1 hour class to develop an understanding of the rhythm, music, and basic steps of Son Cubano. Through percussion instruments we will help to explain the rhythm, the dance, and how this interacts with modern day 'Salsa' and of course the music; some of which may surprise you as many of the modern day tracks you hear still use the foundations of Son so can be danced tiempo or contra-teimpo.
The fundamentals of these lessons have been put together by Osbanis and Anneta - Deakocan Dance and will be delivered by us.
This will be a series of lessons on alternate Mondays to start on the 3rd February, the culmination of which, should you wish! would be for you to attend the first ever UK Festival of Son organised by Damarys Farres - Cuban School of Arts and Ambassador of Son in the UK. Osbanis and Anetta will be teaching there as well as other good friends of Fiesta Cubana.
We are also being supported by the Suffolk Community Foundation with this event
