About this Event
Join us this Saturday for a morning of connection, conversation, and learning! Doors at the Garden Center open at 9:30 AM, with our business meeting beginning at 10 AM. We’re excited to welcome Mike Bañales for his presentation: “So, You’re Ready to Try Native Plants? Come and Enjoy Gardening Again!” Mike will share his personal journey from a traditional garden to a more native-friendly landscape—offering insight, inspiration, and practical ideas to help you rediscover the joy of gardening. You’ll also get a preview of plants that may be available at the April 11 FloraFest Native Plant Sale at UTEP, perfect for your own garden. Mike has been a gardener at the Chihuahuan Desert Gardens at UTEP’s Centennial Museum since August 2021 and became a Master Gardener in 2018. Before that, he spent 36 years in the medical field, including 31 years in a cardiac cath lab and 12 years in supervisory roles at local hospitals. Don’t forget to mark your calendar: FloraFest at UTEP is April 11 from 9 AM to 3 PM! 🌵
