The Columbia Arts Council is thrilled to invite you to a unique creative experience at the intersection of visual art and the written word. On Thursday, June 4, join us at the Pryor Art Gallery for a generative workshop centered on the art of Ekphrastic Poetry, writing inspired by visual art.Whether you are a seasoned poet or have never written a stanza in your life, this workshop offers a space to explore how paintings, sculptures, and artifacts can spark powerful stories and poems. We’ll chat about some basic poetry elements and then just dive in and write. You can partner up with others, work on your own, or even just hang out and observe the process if you’re feeling more like a fly on the wall.
We are honored to welcome Cathy Hollister, author of the 2022 collection Seasoned Women (Poet's Choice) and a Best of the Net nominee. Cathy’s work has appeared in Burningword Literary Journal, Beyond Words, and Smoky Blue Literary and Arts Magazine, among others.
