Our showing shows are aimed at anyone wishing to have a go but particularly novices and those wanting to have a bit of fun - you get to take home a rosette at the end of the day. For this reason we do not run any qualifier classes but there is an overall championship for in hand and ridden classes on the day. Our shows are perfect for those wanting to gain a bit of showing experience or to get their horse/pony out and about. There is a class for everyone.

EHPPS Annual Showing Show Awards:
EHPPS have two awards which will be given annually to attendees of our showing shows. One is for EHPPS foster horses &ponies and is called “EHPPS Life After Rescue trophy” and the other is for non-EHPPS horses & ponies and is called “EHPPS Show Supporters Trophy”
Points are accrued over the three EHPPS showing shows of each year, taking place at Essex Horse & Pony Protection Society, Pitsea Hall Lane, Basildon, Essex SS16 4UH on the following dates:
Saturday 13th June 2026
Sunday 2nd August 2026
Sunday 6th September 2026
All entrants in all classes at these shows are eligible for points towards the year end total.
The points are calculated for each rider/handler and horse partnership separately so that riders/handlers who enter more than one horse will not have an unfair advantage over those entering only one. The points are awarded as follows.
1st Place = 6 points
2nd Place = 5 points
3rd Place = 4 points
4th Place = 3 points
5th Place = 2 points
6th Place = 1 point
Championship winner = 10 points
Reserve Championship winner = 5 points
Each class entry = 1 point
Each year the trophies will be awarded to the participant in each category who as accrued the highest number of points in accordance with the aforementioned points system.
In the event of a tie for points at the end of the season, winners of the trophy will be decided by the following:
- Horse and rider/handler combination with the highest placings over the greatest number of shows.
- Number of classes entered over the greatest number of shows.
The winners will be notified by September 30th of each year.
In addition to a trophy, which the winner can keep, there will also be a shield for both categories which will be engraved with the winner’s details.
The shields are to be returned annually by 23rd September.
