Atenveldt! The name of our Kingdom comes from the Ancient Egyptian word for the disk of the Sun, and what better way to honor our roots than by dressing in the fashions of Ancient Egypt.Join us for a full day workshop that will allow you to learn about the clothing of Ancient Egypt, and make a complete outfit. We will discuss clothing from the Old Kingdom to the end of the New Kingdom and the start of the Ptolemaic period, and will cover clothing for both men and women. The class will begin at 9am, and we will start by learning the history of Egyptian clothing, followed by a break for lunch between noon and 1pm. At one we will start sewing, and wrap things up around 5pm.
A limited number of sewing machines and hand sewing needles will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own equipment. If you plan on participating in the sewing portion of the workshop, please bring $25 to cover the cost of materials, or bring 5 yards of light weight linen or cotton fabric.
