What if improv wasn't supposed to be hard?
Somewhere along the way, a lot of us learned to work at improv — to think faster, be funnier, try harder. But here's the thing: the best improv you've ever seen — and probably the best improv you've ever done — didn't feel like effort. It felt like play.
This two-day intensive is built around one idea: when you stop pushing and start playing, joy shows up on its own.
Over two days in the Bay Area, you'll explore what it actually means to collaborate — to listen, to give, to follow the fun wherever it leads. We'll work on getting out of your own way, trusting your partners, and finding the ease that makes scenes feel alive. We'll even spend some time with narrative — because yes, story matters. But when narrative becomes the whole focus, it's easy to miss the playfulness that's actually what makes a scene come alive.
You'll leave with new skills, new friends, and a renewed sense of why you fell in love with improv in the first place.
Come play. The joy takes care of itself.
We have community standards, a conflict process, and a COVID prevention policy in place. Agreement/acceptance of these policies is required to participate in BATS classes.
