An educational day that encompasses the history of Juneteenth as well as cultural awareness of the Black experience. It is a day dedicated to celebrating accomplishments, justice, and freedom for Black people, as well as reflecting on the continuing struggle for equity.
NewWorld Arts will render two performances. At 12 noon, Bhakti Larry Hough will perform The Juneteenth Experience, the telling of the Juneteenth story through songs, poetry, and African drumming. He will also lead a drum circle with children and adults.
At 1 pm, The Bhakti Project (Ken Cheeks, Shannon Pinkney, and Bhakti) will perform jazz and freedom songs.
