Event Description:

In times of conflict, both education and humanitarian aid play critical roles in ensuring the survival and resilience of affected populations. This event will focus on the intersection of education and humanitarian aid during wartime, exploring the challenges faced by communities and the strategies used to overcome them. By examining the effects of war on education, as well as the efforts to provide humanitarian relief, the discussion will highlight how resilience and innovation emerge in the most challenging of circumstances.

Yuli Tamir, the former Minister of Education of Israel and currently President of Beit Berl College, will share her expertise from a region deeply impacted by ongoing geopolitical tensions. Her insights will emphasize the importance of education in fostering resilience and promoting peace, even in areas frequently affected by conflict. Yuli Tamir is also a founder of Israel's prominent peace movement, Peace Now, and has been a long-time advocate for peaceful conflict resolution.

Yotam Polizer, CEO of IsrAID, will bring his extensive experience leading one of the world’s top humanitarian organizations. IsrAID operates in over 50 countries, providing life-saving emergency relief and sustainable development aid. Polizer’s journey began as an international youth movement leader, continuing to roles that include disaster relief in Japan, refugee assistance in South Sudan, and humanitarian work with refugees in Europe and beyond. His leadership has been pivotal in coordinating global responses to crises, offering a perspective on how education and aid intersect in war zones and disaster-stricken areas.
