About this Event
The EDNY and SDNY have long been at the forefront of alternative courts in the federal system. Come learn about the programs available in both districts from the Judges, Pretrial/Probation Officers, and attorneys who staff these programs. Each court will have a short presentation and answer questions, in an effort to expand the reach of the programs to serve more clients.
EDNY:
The Pretrial Opportunity Program ("POP") and Relapse Accountability and Prevention program ("REAP"), with Judges Gonzalez, Donnelly, and Merkyl, serve pretrial and probation/supervised release clients who struggle with substance use disorders.
The Special Options Services ("SOS") program, with Judges Azrack and Cho, serves young defendants, between the ages of 18-25.
The Supervision to Aid Re-entry ("STAR") court, with Judges Levy and Chen, serves defendants on probation/supervised release with histories of substance use disorders and mental illness.
The Reentry Assistance and Initiatives Support Everyone ("RAISE") court, with Judges DeArcy Hall and Reyes, serves defendants on probation/supervised release who have a high risk of recidivism.
SDNY:
The Young Adult Opportunity Program ("YAOP"), with Judges Netburn and Abrams, serves young defendants, between the ages of 18-25.
The Reentry through Intensive Supervision and Employment ("RISE") Courts, with Judges Rochon, Sullivan, Broderick, Daniels, Cave, Seibel, and Gardephe, serve defendants on probation/supervised release who have a high risk of recidivism.
