Following the success of its first edition in 2025, EDGE Architecture Festival Budapest returns with a new program. Across two days of talks, discussions, and festival events, international and Hungarian speakers - from renowned architects to emerging thinkers - will explore how architecture can respond to today’s social, ecological, and technological transformations, and what these shifts mean for the future of architecture. The conference programme for the two days is structured as follows:

DAY ONE - 18 JUNE 2026

PULP FICTION
The hidden stories behind architecture are presented by speakers who also shape the vision of the designers. Theory is not only about historical interpretation, but also about forward-looking, experimental, and perspective-shaping critiques that influence both current and future architecture, through both education and public discourse.
Speakers:
- Regina Loukotova (Architectural Institute in Prague)
- Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli (Royal College of Arts)
- András Cseh (CAN Architects)
- Davide Tommaso Ferrando (Free University of Bozen-Bolzano)
Followed by a roundtable discussion with the speakers.

WINY MAAS: Projecting Tomorrow
Winy Maas has been one of the defining figures of contemporary architecture and urbanism since the founding of MVRDV in 1993, shaping the way we think about cities and architecture on an international scale. Through his realized and speculative projects, his lecture offers a glimpse into the possibilities of the future, vividly demonstrating that architecture is also one of the most powerful tools for research and experimentation.
Speaker:
- Winy Maas (MVRDV)

INTERSTELLAR
The stars of our time do not just build at a massive scale, they also make legible the global system that defines the space in which architecture can operate today. In their work, local cultural, economic, and ecological tensions do not appear as background conditions, but as realities that demand new and courageous responses.
Interstellar is where architecture stops playing safe. This section brings together some of the most influential architects working today, people operating at a scale where design meets politics, crisis, capital, and planetary change. Their work does not merely respond to the world as it is, but dares to imagine what it might become.
Speakers:
- Rodia Valladares (Studio Gang)
- Michel Rojkind (Rojkind Arquitectos)
- Beat Huessler (Oppenheim Architecture)
- Urszula Sedziak (Chybik + Kristof)
Followed by a roundtable discussion with the speakers.

TWIN PEAKS
The Twin Peaks section focuses on architectural attitudes that become memorable not through spectacle, but through atmosphere, materiality, and finely tuned detail. The architects featured here practice a sensitive, distinctive, and critically engaged form of architecture whose quiet intensity is precisely what makes it radical.
Speakers:
- Job Floris (Monadnock)
- Artem Kitaev (KOSMOS Architects)
- Paolo Catrambone, Maria Ave Romani (ORTUS)
- Denes Ghyczy, Lukacs Szederkenyi (AU Workshop)
Followed by a roundtable discussion with the speakers.

DAY TWO - 19 JUNE 2026

INCEPTION
A session where architecture collides with graphic design, publishing, and visual culture in bold and unexpected ways. Bringing together voices that are deeply engaged with contemporary culture, it shows how ideas from outside architecture can shake up the field and spark new ways of seeing, thinking, and making.
Speakers:
- Erik Kessels (KesselsKramer)
- Thomas Widdershoven, Nikki Gonnissen (Thonik)
- Nóra Demeczky, Enikő Déri (DE-FORM)
Followed by a roundtable discussion with the speakers.

RÁKOSRENDEZŐ ROUNDTABLE
Rákosrendező Roundtable brings one of Budapest’s most ambitious future districts into the international spotlight. Led by Dávid Vitézy, Member of the Budapest General Assembly and Chair of the Committee on Climate Protection, Transport and Urban Development, and joined by the winners of the international Rákosrendező masterplan competition, the session offers a concise look at a visionary project that signals Budapest’s confidence in the future.
Rákosrendező Roundtable puts a major new Budapest project in front of an international audience at exactly the right moment. With Dávid Vitézy and the winners of the international masterplan competition, the session presents a bold vision for a new city district that reflects both the scale of Budapest’s ambition and its renewed optimism about the future.
Speakers:
- Dávid Vitézy
- Winners of the Rákosrendező masterplan competition

STRANGER THINGS
Stranger Things brings together a radical mix of architects, editors, and thinkers operating where architecture turns critical and unapologetically experimental. Moving through virtual worlds, environmental reflection, media, and theory, they push the discipline into wilder territory and challenge the limits of how reality itself can be shaped.
Speakers:
- Alicia Lazzaroni, Antonio Bernacchi (Animali Domestici)
- Tekla Gedeon, Sebastian Gschanes (Fuzzy Earth)
- Federica Sofia Zambeletti (KoozArch)
- Lara Lesmes, Fredrik Hellberg (Space Popular)
Followed by a roundtable discussion with the speakers.

EDGE AWARD CEREMONY
The EDGE Awards Ceremony is the closing event of the EDGE Awards competition. Following the live presentations by finalists in each category, as well as the jury’s evaluation and deliberation, the winners of this year’s EDGE Awards will be officially announced.
