Joe Clements, assistant conservation manager with Lowther Estates, provides an insight into a ground breaking regenerative land management scheme employing nature’s most talented water engineers.
It will be a timely talk as the , of which Eden Rivers Trust is a proud partner, announce the arrival of two beaver kits at the Lowther Estate. Four years since a pair of Eurasian beavers, Glen and Dragonfly, were introduced in a licensed, enclosed scientific release. It appears to be the first time the beavers successfully bred, much to the delight of conservationists around the county. There’s also a short featuring Joe and ecologist Elizabeth Ogilvie discussing the kits and the impact of the wider land management activities at the Lowther site.
