Are you a high school student, or an educator who works with youth passionate about driving real change in our community? Join our Youth Lobby Day on Wednesday, March 18, to bring your voice directly to decision-makers at the state Capitol!
You’ll learn how decisions are made at the Capitol, how you can be an effective advocate, connect with other students, and bring your concerns directly to the people who make decisions that affect you.
WHAT: Youth Lobby Day
WHEN: March 18, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
WHERE: Meet at Christ on Capitol Hill (105 University Ave W, St Paul, MN 55103), then we’ll head as a group to the Minnesota State Capitol
What to expect: We’ll start the day with advocacy preparation and inspiring speakers before heading across the street to the Capitol to see policymaking happen and meet with legislators. We’ll provide food and can support transportation for those who need it.
Get Ready to Advocate Pre-Training Workshop Options
Students should plan to participate in a pre-training session to come ready to have an impact! We’ll offer two training sessions before Lobby Day—one in-person and one online—and can also work with school groups to come out to your site for a lobby day prep session. We’ll help you practice sharing your story, understand the issues, and know what to expect at the Capitol.
- In-Person: Sat. Feb. 28, 11am-1pm, Frogtown Community Center (lunch included)
- Virtual: Thurs. March 5, 6-7:30pm via Zoom
- Custom: Have a group and want us to come to you to lead a workshop on how to advocate before joining the lobby day? We’ll reach out to find a time that works!
