ABOUT SUBURBANOID

Jim Davis, known as Suburbanoid, is a sound meditation specialist who has been creating healing music for over two decades. His sound meditation journey began over 20 years ago during a meditation course, where he started composing music to guide meditation practice. Jim's 2008 debut meditation album "Lite Roast" was recorded in Ojai and inspired by the town's spiritual energy and Full Moon ceremonies at Meditation Mount. He has traveled extensively, bringing transformative sound experiences to yoga studios, meditation centers, and spiritual communities across the co untry. Currently in his fifth year offering weekly Sunday sound meditations at Meditation Mount, Jim creates immersive experiences using Fusion Sitar, Tibetan singing bowls, guitar with electric bow, Koshi chimes, gong, and other healing instruments. Jim creates a welcoming field of resonance that invites us to relax and enter into a deeper relationship with our essential.

In this album, Suburbanoid employs his world orchestra of organic instruments to create his peaceful, meditative music. This includes Tibetan Singing Bowls, a fusion sitar from India, a Baglama from Turkey, a gong from Italy, Koshi chimes from France, a Kalimba from Africa, an electric guitar, Ebow, ocean drum, buffalo drum and crystal singing bowls from the USA, as well as a 12-string acoustic guitar from Canada, a synthesizer from the UK, among other exceptional instruments. Furthermore, the album features glossolalia vocal styles and chants performed by Helia and Suburbanoid, (representing the divine feminine and masculine). Glossolalia -vocalizations that sound like language but lack conventional meaning, used for spiritual expression (singing in tongues) or as a compositional technique to explore pure sound and emotion.

Ecstatic dance is a freeform dance experience. The DJ creates a set for dancers to connect with and move as they desire, no choreography. Music changes in style and intensity to encourage movement exploration.
