Jae Ursidae, Leader of Ecstatic Dance DC will be your magical host and guide 🌀
Ursidae 🐻❄️ is a multi-instrumentalist, producer & DJ as well as leader of Ecstatic Dance DC. His intricate and funky yet dreamy sounds stem from his upbringing, an environment which fostered his desire for musical exploration. With a professor of music theory for a father and a background steeped in classical piano, jazz, funk, and electronic influences, music has been central to his life from the start.
With guitar in hand, Ursidae seamlessly blends the warmth of live instrumentation with the infectious grooves of electronic music. His live performances become a playground of spontaneity, each moment an invitation to join him on a musical journey like no other. The core purpose of Ursidae is to inspire transcension of dualistic experience through heart-opening love & movement practices! @ursidaemusic

Ecstatic Dance is a freeform dance meditation that allows you to embody your most joyful and playful self in a safe, sober container. The event begins with an embodiment warmup to get us tapped into our bodies, goes straight into dance meditation with a live DJ, and cools down with a sound healing experience.
Our dance is a 2 room experience with one room as a dedicated dance floor and one room curated as a ✨chill out room✨ The chill out room is intended as a lower stimulation space with soft lighting, pillows, and blankets for rest, low volume conversations, and enjoying offerings from local vendors including energy & tarot readings, body work, jewelry, plant elixirs, and more!
We can’t wait to welcome you to our beautiful ecstatic dance community and co-create a sacred dance container at the super warm & welcoming Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington! For those unfamiliar with the Unitarian Univeralist Church system, it is a community space for every faith and background to gather and is welcoming and affirming of the LGBTQ+ community! You can expect to see rainbow flags and spiritual symbols of all faiths throughout the space 🌈🕉️👐🏽🛐✨
𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙂𝙪𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨
- Consent first! You’re not consenting to dancing with anybody by being in this space. Always wait for consent cues before dancing with someone. If you don’t wish to dance with someone put your hands in a prayer position to thank them and move along.
- No shoes. This grounds us to the earth and makes it less likely to step on anyone’s toes.
- No chit chat on the dance floor. This allows the energy of the dance space to stay in flow without interruptions. Yelling out in joyful expression is allowed! If you wish to have a deeper conversation with someone, the chill-out space down the hall is perfect for that.
- No alcohol or substances. Please arrive sober. This allows us to be super present with each other and our boundaries.
- No photos or video of the dance floor. This allows everyone to drop in deeply without fear of being judged. Photos and videos of the DJ/ musician and sound healers are allowed with consent of the performer .
- All forms of movement or rest is encouraged! Go cuddle up in the chill-out room with a blanket and pillow and take a sensory break. The music will be waiting for you when you’re ready to return!
- Family friendly! People of all ages are welcome to dance & enjoy 🧑🧑🧒
- Bring an open mind, open heart, comfy clothes, and a water bottle. You can fill up your water bottle at the venue w/ filtered water.

$20 EARLY BIRD tickets available until Aug 11
$25 tickets available online up until 1 hour before the dance
$30 - door ticket price.
Children’s tickets (for kids 18 yrs and under accompanied by parent) - $20 online or in-person
$30 community sustainer tickets will be available online in unlimited supply. These tickets are an opportunity for those who would like to pay a little more now to ensure that our dance community is sustainable and continues for months and years to come ❤️

Volunteer opportunities available for those who would like to donate their time to set up, break down, or work door duty in exchange for a free ticket. DM Ari to get involved :)
Schedule:
2-2:15: welcome & get settled, leave your shoes and personal items on the edges of the room or chill out space.
2:15-2:45- embodiment warm up
2:45-4:15pm - dance experience
4:20-5:15 - sound healing cool down
5:15-5:30 - community sharing circle: share one word to describe your experience, longer discussion about anything that came up for you, and share community announcements
Plenty of parking available in the large parking lot! Please enter the church from the main entrance and come down the stairs to the basement area where the dance experience will be held.
