About this Event
Aquatic insects, like dragonfly nymphs, caddisflies, and bloodworms serve a very important purpose in our local freshwater ecosystems! Many associate our ponds, lakes, rivers, and streams with fishing, birds, and the occasional alligator. Well, all of these animals have one thing in common. They depend on the presence of aquatic insects for survival. These insects, in turn, depend on water that is relatively healthy and free of pollutants.
Join our UF/IFAS Extension Program Assistant and insect enthusiast, Jackie Lebouitz, on a tour through the park while we learn about the link between these aquatic insects, water quality, and ecosystem health as well as how to collect, identify, and appreciate all the 6-legged crawlers among us.
Most appropriate for ages 12 and up.
