Join UF/IFAS Extension and Sarasota County educators at Shamrock Park for a brief presentation followed by a walking tour to identify non-native, invasive plants and animals. Learn about how and when they were introduced to our region, and find out what you can do to be a responsible property owner. Non-native invasive plants and animals are one of the leading threats to native biodiversity around the world. They can negatively affect property values, agricultural productivity, public utilities, fisheries, tourism, outdoor recreation, and ecosystem function, and are estimated to cost the United States as much as $120 billion in economic damages and control measures each year.
NOTE: Appropriate for ages 12 and up.
