Eco printing on fabric with hand embroidery
Come and explore the basics of eco printing on cloth with creative community textile artist Jane Charles of Smallbeans studio.
Working with a simple iron mordant and soy milk binder, steaming the bundles brings out the natural tanin’s in the leaves, leaving their stunning details on the fabric.
While the fabric is steaming, we will start to create some hand stitching details for a lovely envelope shaped pouch, perfect for a travelling sewing kit.
Working with reclaimed fabrics, vintage printed cottons and lovely hand embroidery threads.
Bring your own hand sewing kit and any scraps of printed fabrics you might want to use. If you have access to some fabourite leaves, bring a few of those along as well. Oak, sycamore, horse chestnut, acer, rose leaves, silver birch should all work well.
Skill Level: Suitable for beginners as well as those who have tried eco printing on fabric befofre.
Cost: £70 per person - includes all materials and equipment use.
