Die Gruppenausstellung „Echos der Zukunft“ bringt die Potsdamer und Berliner Künstler:innen Cécile Wesolowski, Jenny Alten, Käthe Wenzel, Patricia Detmering, Swaantje Güntzel und Udo Koloska in der Biosphäre Potsdam zusammen. Kuratiert von Tuçe Erel in Zusammenarbeit mit artifact e.V. entwickelten sie künstlerische Interventionen inmitten der „geplanten Natur“ der Biosphäre. Die Ausstellung eröffnet parallel zur Konferenz „Myth, Ritual, and Practice for the Age of Ecological Catastrophe.“ (17. – 19. Mai 2024) an der Universität Potsdam).
„Echos der Zukunft“ konzentriert sich auf Narrative aus der Umweltkrise, auf ästhetische Praxen, die Mythen und Rituale vergangener und aktueller Kultur befragen und aktualisieren. Wer erzählt und welche Politiken des Sagbaren bestimmen die Gegenwart? Wie werden Informationen an nächste Generationen weitergegeben? Welche Werkzeuge und Methoden gibt es, um Rituale am Leben zu erhalten? Und was bedeuten Rituale und Kultur inmitten einer durch den Menschen verursachten, fortschreitenden Umweltkrise? Die Künstler:innen verbinden rituelle Praktiken mit innovativer Technologie, hinterfragen beide und schaffen persönliche Narrative, die sie an ihre eigene Generation und nächste Generationen weitergeben möchten.
Die Ausstellung in der Biosphäre lädt Wissenschaftler:innen, Kunstinteressierte und Besucher:innen der Biosphäre ein, in einen gemeinsamen und disziplinübergreifenden Diskurs über die Klimakrise einzusteigen. „Echos der Zukunft“ möchte sinnlich-kulturelle Erfahrungen ermöglichen und die Besucher:innen für ihre eigenen Handlungsräume sensibilisieren.
Die Ausstellung ist bereits tagsüber ab 10:00 Uhr zu besichtigen. Zur Auftaktveranstaltung und Ausstellungseröffnung am 18. Mai 2024 werden ab 19:00 Uhr Konferenzteilnehmer:innen Vorträge in der Orangerie der Biosphäre präsentieren.

The group exhibition "Echoes of the Future" brings together the Potsdam and Berlin artists Cécile Wesolowski, Jenny Alten, Käthe Wenzel, Patricia Detmering, Swaantje Güntzel and Udo Koloska at the Biosphäre Potsdam. Curated by Tuçe Erel in collaboration with artifact e.V., they developed artistic interventions for the "planned nature" of the biosphere. The exhibition opens parallel to the conference "Myth, Ritual, and Practice for the Age of Ecological Catastrophe." (17 - 19 May 2024) at the University of Potsdam).
"Echoes of the Future" focuses on narratives from the environmental crisis, on aesthetic practices that question and update the myths and rituals of past and present culture. Who narrates and which politics of the sayable determine the present? How is information passed on to future generations? What tools and methods are there to keep rituals alive? And what do rituals and culture mean in the midst of a progressive environmental crisis caused by human activity? The artists combine and ritual practices with innovative technology and critically question both and create personal narratives that they want to pass on to their own generation and future generations.
Scientists, art professionals and visitors to the Biosphäre are invited to enter into a joint and interdisciplinary discourse on the climate crisis. "Echoes of the Future" aims to enable sensory-cultural experiences and raise visitors' awareness of their own scope for action.
The exhibition can be viewed during that day from 10 AM to 7 PM.
At the launch event and exhibition opening on 18 May 2024, conference participants will present keynote lectures in the Orangery of the Biosphere.
