This event brings film, music, and words together in a unique creative evening.Join Hip-Hop and Reggae artists Daniel Johnson and DJ Kamar, together with filmmaker and poet Ashley Samuels-McKenzie plus International Reggae Windrush Ambassador, June-Elizabeth White-Smith-Gulley, for a unique creative participatory event bringing film, music, and words together
The evening will commence with a screening of Daniel’s film, "The Visible Influence of Windrush on Contemporary British Music and Culture". This will be followed by a participatory workshop - an opportunity to create together where the you, the audience, will be invited to become part of the creative process: sharing words, sounds, stories, and ideas that will be woven into new music, poetry, rap, and spoken word.
We invite you to bring a musical instrument, an everyday object that makes sound, or simply your voice and imagination.
You can take part as much or as little as you like - whether that means singing, rapping, reading lyrics, playing your instrument, or just adding your ideas to the mix.
This is a unique opportunity to come together as a community, explore the legacy of Windrush, and create something powerful in the moment!
