Once part of a sprawling 600-acre estate, the home has witnessed generations of life, ambition, and hardship before being preserved as a museum by the Chesterfield Historical Society. Today, its elegant rooms, original woodwork, and period furnishings offer a rare glimpse into 19th-century Virginia life.
But as the sun sets, the atmosphere inside Magnolia Grange shifts.....
Over the years, guests, investigation, and even county staff have reported chilling experiences within the home. Multiple witnesses have described seeing a mysterious woman in Victorian-era clothing standing on the second-floor landing-often mistaken for staff, until it's discovered no one was there. Others have reported the presence of a man believed to be William Winfree, the home's original owner, who met a violent end in the 1840s.
