The Echo Locator live music series culminates with the Summertime finale on Sat 24 Jan from 6-9pm for the Summer ‘Yowie Edition’ in the Lismore Quad (part of the wider Yowie heartland) 🙉Featuring live performances by folk & cosmic country favourites from the region Family Jordan, JB Paterson & Mylee Grace 🤠
For the Summer edition we explore the mythical figure of the Yowie. Known to the Bundjalung people for thousands of years, the Yowie is a tall, strong, hairy ape-like creature that has been sighted hundreds of times, both in the deep corners of the Australian bush and near inhabited areas. To delve into the legend, leading cryptozoologist Gary Opit joins us to present his findings and years of Yowie research, alongside other shocking encounters in the Australian bush.
Visual artist and Yowie enthusiast Fiona Fraser also presents a series of Yowie art inspired by field trips to known hotspots.
Plus the Holiday Makers present audiovisual documents from their own Yowie discovery journey.
