Aims/Objectives
Give you basic information on groups of students and eating and drinking difficulties they may have
• Tell you about normal eating and drinking and how this relates to children you support
•The importance and responsibilities of your role as a feeding partner
•Explain risks associated with eating and drinking problems - how to manage/avoid these
•Make sure you know what the SALT feeding plans are
•Explain IDDSI levels, what you need to know about them and how to check children’s food textures are right for them
•Tell you general good practice in supporting students with eating and drinking problems
•Tell you where to go for help and advice
Please read:
- Please arrive no later than 5 minutes before it is due to start so that we can start the training promptly.
- Bring a pen and paper with you. All other resources will be provided during the training.
- At the end of the training you will be asked to complete an informal assessment. This helps speech and language therapy to identify where further support/training maybe required.
- Speech and language therapy will issue a certificate on completion of the training and assessment.
- This is not an accredited training course.
