The WELS Minnesota District Worship Committee invites you to an Easter Vigil service on Holy Saturday, April 19, beginning at 8:00 p.m. until about 9:30 p.m. in the beautiful chapel of St. Croix Lutheran Academy in West St. Paul, MN.The historic service begins at sunset in candlelight in an atmosphere of solemn anticipation with the Service of Light. The Service of the Word highlights the account of Creation and Old Testament readings of deliverance. The Service of Holy Baptism highlights Baptism as an act of deliverance for each individual Christian. The liturgy builds to a crescendo at the proclamation “Alleluia, Christ is risen!” and a dramatic transition from darkness to light for the Service of Holy Communion.
A 20-minute pre-service presentation at 7:30 p.m. will highlight history, symbolism, and defining characteristics of the Easter Vigil. Make this event a part of your Holy Week observance.
