Earthwork Music Collective believes in the intrinsic power of music to raise both community and self-awareness. Comprised of musicians, teachers, healers, farmers, water protectors, and community organizers, they encourage cooperation and collaboration, using music as a tool to serve, heal, inspire and empower. This monthly series features members from all around MI converging to create cosmic collabs, cultivate lasting relationships with our community, and elevate environmental and social justice movements.
Joe Reilly’s songs are playful, clever, engaging, joyful, and always have something meaningful to say. The core of his message is an invitation to heal our relationships with ourselves, with each other, and with the earth. Joe’s aspiration is to water seeds of compassion, joy, healing, inclusive community, and peace in our collective consciousness through the sharing of music.
Self-proclaimed Loud Mouth Ghetto Girl Amber Hasan (Flint/TC) sees writing as sacred, a vehicle for feeling spiritually whole and fulfilling her life purpose. Amber’s work focuses on bringing light to dark places and situations while helping others find and use their voices as tools of empowerment. Her support of those affected by the Flint Water Crisis led to the creation of her natural product line “Mama’s Healing Hands” and artist collective The Sister Tour, a grassroots organization providing resources and safe spaces for women artists and entrepreneurs.
Chris Good’s music features “sweet grooves and poignant lyrics infused with intentionality, ingenuity, and integrity.” Alongside his musical pursuits, Chris serves as Communications Director for the MI-based nonprofit, Title Track, and Produce Manager for Nature & Nurture Seeds. Chris can also be found performing with his band, Friends with the Weather, and with Joe Reilly & The Community Gardeners.
Dede Alder values all people who want to look closely at our lives and our future and change it, to propel us forward with our hearts and minds. The role of the artist is to examine the dysfunction, the imbalance, the ugliness, the shadow, and the beauty - to dive deeply, give witness, and ultimately, if we do our jobs right, come back with the silver lining of hope - the spark that lights the fire in other’s souls, that reminds us of the things we used to know, of our values as children, of the things that disarm us. At least, this is why she makes music.
