About this Event
Join us at the Tiny Forest in Walsall Arboretum and help collect valuable data about the trees, take part in a bug hunt or join a litter pick - or try a bit of everything. No experience is needed and all training will be provided on the day. Identification sheets will be available.

During the session, we’ll measure the height and width of selected trees using simple tools such as tape measures and callipers. You can submit your findings directly to Earthwatch Europe using your mobile phone by scanning the on‑site QR code. If you prefer not to use your phone, paper recording sheets will be available.
To record plants and animals on iNaturalist, you’ll need a mobile device. It’s helpful to download the iNaturalist app and create an account before the session, though you can also record wildlife using paper ID sheets.
Litter‑picking equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have it.
This is a great opportunity to get outdoors, meet like‑minded people and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of spending time in nature.
There is a café at the Arboretum (around a 20‑minute walk from the Tiny Forest), and you’re welcome to bring your own refreshments. Toilets are located at the café.
Please check the weather forecast before attending. If high winds, heavy rain or weather warnings are issued, the session will be cancelled — please keep an eye on your emails.
The ground may be uneven, so sturdy footwear is recommended. The forest includes dog rose, hawthorn and blackthorn, so long sleeves and long trousers are advised to avoid scratches and be aware that clothing may snag.
