Early April is a great time to learn some of the hidden plants and not-so-hidden “weeds” that are packed with amazing nutrients and flavor. Getting out early in the season means you will have several more weeks to harvest on your own.In this class you’ll learn the basics of identification, including the dangerous plants you should be aware of. We’ll wander the banks of the Rivanna, learning to harvest ethically and responsibly, while learning which plants are packed with which nutrients and medicines.
Your instructor, Soupy will share her experience making wild pestos, tinctures, vinegars, sauteed greens and more. Whether you are learning for survival purposes, simply wanting to add wild foods to your diet, or starting to replace some bought greens with foraged ones, this is a great place to start, as well as a place to deepen your knowledge.
We’ll add our harvest together and share a wild salad at the end of class!
This class is geared mostly toward adults, but interested and attentive children 7 to 13 can register along with an adult. Youth 14+ can register without an adult. $45 for adults/$25 for youth
