About this Event

This event is 3 of 3 sessions in the CIPD Leicestershire Early Careers Programme 2025–26 designed to complement university course curriculums, provide career development support, and strengthen the connection between academic learning and professional practice.

Join us for this Early Careers Programme event.

This session looks at the skills HR professionals need to support people, managers, and organisations to perform and grow.

We will explore what good leadership looks like today, how HR develops capability, and how you can build your own skills as a future people professional.

What you’ll learn

1. What effective leadership looks like in modern organisations.

2. How HR supports learning, development and capability building.

3. Skills needed for the future HR profession and how to begin developing them now.

4. Practical tips for confidence, communication and career growth.

5. Explore topics of interest with experienced HR professionals

Who is it for?

MSc HRM students/HRM undergraduates, early career professionals, and who wants to understand skills and growth at work.

Open to CIPD non-members and members.

All students from Leicester, DMU, and Loughborough are welcome.
