Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council hosts this program, suitable for youth aged 12 and up. After a brief introduction, participants collect water samples and learn to safely test for various water health indicators, including pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, nitrates and phosphates. We then move to kick netting for invertebrates in the rapids. Aquatic invertebrates are indicators of a river's health. We compare the river upstream and downstream of Drayton Valley's water treatment plant to see if there is a noticeable difference in water health at these two locations.
