About this Event
Bienvenidos! Join the Oak Cliff community in gathering to celebrate the first annual Día de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, event November 1-3 on the historic Jefferson Boulevard. The celebration features a block party and special themed altar route created by Latino nonprofits and local businesses that foster an inclusive experience for the community.
Visitors can dress up and join the lively pachanga, or party, at Ayahuasca Cantina, enjoy the baile dance celebration at Yuyu Cultural Shop and immerse themselves in the fun at Cocandre’s block party which is going on its 14 year celebrating the tradition in partnership with TX Latino Pride and the Oak Cliff Cultural Center.
The Día de Los Muertos self-guidaed altar route and block party is a tribute to those who have passed and a vibrant expression of community resilience. With roots stretching back thousands of years to Indigenous Mexican civilizations, this celebration has evolved into a rich and vibrant modern tradition. Join us for this celebration of life, memory, and culture.
