West Dunbartonshire Council provides an Elderly Welfare Payment of £15 to all West Dunbartonshire Council citizens aged 66+ every year.
However, Duntocher residents have always had the traditional opportunity of nominating their £15 and mandating that WDC pay this to the Duntocher Older Peoples Welfare Committee who organise events throughout the year, including the annual Duntocher Old Folks Christmas Dinner.
This year is no different. Some new members have joined the Duntocher Older Peoples Welfare Committee to keep this wonderful tradition in Duntocher going. I myself have agreed to join the committee and help run and organise the Duntocher Old Folks Group, including the Annual Christmas Dinner in December.
However, we are looking for new members. To do so, any resident aged 66+ can complete a very quick form indicating to West Dunbartonshire Council that they wish to join the Duntocher Older Peoples Welfare Group and have their £15 sent over to the Duntocher Older Peoples Welfare Committee.
To help support this drive to increase our membership, I have organised a sign-up day. On Monday, 6 October 2025, we will be in Duntocher Village Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Anyone living in Duntocher who is aged 66+ who wants to either renew their mandate or add their name to the list is very welcome to come down and fill in this form.
The cut-off date for new applicants is 20 October 2025, so we are keen to get new forms and new members sent off to West Dunbartonshire Council well in advance of this.
Even if you don’t wish to attend the Christmas Dinner, or the events that Duntocher Older Peoples Welfare Committee will be organising throughout the year, you can still decide to donate your £15 to the Duntocher Older Peoples Welfare Group and any donations would be gratefully received.
It is so important that we keep Duntocher traditions alive, including the annual Old Folks Christmas Dinner which is always one of the highlights of the year. Please support the Duntocher Older Peoples Welfare Group and come down and sign-up. Everyone is welcome. Thank you!
