Duncan MacMillan’s sophomore album, “On Misadventure and Outrageous Fortune”, is a collection of songs written about and inspired by moments of lowdown heartbreak and high-flying victory. Sarcastic, witty, and heartfelt, it strives to tell a story reflecting the cyclical nature of things.
Hailing from Winston Salem, NC, Duncan MacMillan is a folk singer/songwriter. He studied music and played in the bluegrass band at UNC Chapel Hill, and now writes and performs music drawing from bluegrass, old time, folk, and Americana. His debut album, “Young Man Waiting”, was written in 2020 and finally recorded four years later in 2024, when he began performing regularly with his original music.
Multi instrumentalist, composer, and producer Kevin Beck often appears across the North Carolina scene as a sideman, however, the Winston-Salem-born artist has been steadily building and refining a body of work that spans genres and idioms. His 2023 release Infinite Landscapes No. 1 is a reflection of his fascination with synthesizers, guitars, and sampling techniques manifest in an ambient electronic format; and his March 2026 release south sunset further explores these fascinations, allowing them to dissolve into a framework of songs that draw inspiration from modern folk, post rock, jazz, and drum n bass. #duncanmacmillan #kevinbeck #gashilldrinkingroom #wsnc #supportlivemusic
