About this Event
Join us for the exclusive opening night of the 2025 Dumbo Film Festival, a unique evening dedicated to fostering connection, sharing stories, and cultivating the Brooklyn film community. This year’s edition of the Festival kicks off with a culinary-focused event at Salotto, one of the borough's most acclaimed and inviting venues.
"Good Food: Stories from the Mediterranean."
The Mediterranean is more than a sea: it’s a cradle of civilizations, a meeting point of cultures, and a fertile land where food tells centuries-old stories. From the salty breeze of coastal kitchens to the golden fields of ancient grains, Mediterranean food tells stories of tradition, resilience, and joy. This DFF25 film block explores the rich tapestry of Mediterranean flavors: rooted in the land, shaped by history, and refreshed by seasonal pleasures. It's a celebration of how food connects us to place, people, and a slower, more meaningful way of life.
The event, starting with a cocktail hour, will feature the screening of three out-of-contest films:
SKY
Director: Andrew Lucido
When 10-year-old Jake is left home alone, he ventures through New York City, searching for his own space to dream.
GELATO - SEVEN SUMMERS OF ICE CREAM LOVE

This animation tells the story of how Italian gelato conquered Germany, from tiny stalls to beautiful shops, against the backdrop of childhood and war.
SPANISH OLIVE GROVE
Director: Francisco Javier Fernández Bordonada
This documentary explores the production, economy, conservation, and future challenges of the olive landscape in Spain, the world's leading producer of extra virgin olive oil.
