This hands-on workshop will be held on Sunday May 17, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Leikam Brewing Company's Community Room: 5812 E Burnside St, Portland, OR 97215.
Workshop will last approximately 3.0 hours, depending on your speed. Students will learn how to create a Dude or Demon character sculpture from stoneware clay, and then paint the eyes, teeth and (optional) horns with glazes. This is a skills-based class that is accessible by beginners, with great results. All required tools, clay and glazes will be supplied. Please wear comfortable clothing that is OK to get dirty, or wear a smock or apron. Workshop is suitable for adults and teens age 13+.
We will work together, step-by-step, as you learn how to use the tools, and learn the skills to create your very own Dude or Demon. (Demons have horns, and Dudes don't.) Characters will then travel to my studio where I will dry slowly, fire them, stain them, and then fire them again in my ceramic kiln.
Dudes & Demons will be available for pick-up at Leikam Brewery on Sunday June 14, 2026 from 3:00-4:00 PM, just before my next (Mushrooms) workshop starts. (Or by appointment at my studio near St Johns in north Portland.)
Price includes one beer token, covering one beer+tip. Other beverage substitutions are available, and some will require an upcharge.
