Join Dubuque County Conservation for Dubuque County Adaptive Outdoor Adventure Day, a free, inclusive outdoor event designed for individuals with physical or neurological challenges and their families.In partnership with United Spinal Association – Iowa Chapter (@unitedspinaliowa) and the Spina Bifida Association of Iowa, this event celebrates access, adventure, and connection to the outdoors for people of all abilities.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
• Try track chairs while exploring the Heritage Trail
• Use adaptive fishing equipment at Heritage Pond
• Experience adaptive kayaking on the water
• Bike the Heritage Trail using adaptive hand bikes or adaptive tricycles.
• Enjoy guided nature hikes, birding, art activities, and more!
Local organizations that support adaptive recreation and accessibility including hospitals, physical therapy providers, colleges, and community partners will be on site to share resources and connect with participants.
Light snacks will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the outdoors, come and go as they please, and pack a lunch to enjoy at the park. Whether you stay for an hour or the whole afternoon, we invite you to make a day of it and experience the outdoors in a welcoming, supportive environment.
