Join Rick Howe (PBS FM), Bakkamoona and Dj-Ital Magnus (UK) at the Sooki Lounge, from 9pm-3am as they play a vinyl only selection of music from foundation Jamaican Roots to contemporary Dub and Bass spanning all decades from the 70's to 2020's. Following the sad news of the recent passing of master drummer Sly Dunbar, who together with bassist Robbie Shakespeare, and known as "Sly and Robbie" formed the backbone of so much of the music produced during the heyday of roots reggae. We will be showcasing some of the duos huge musical career, from their Black Uhuru super-group days, to their own Taxi label, and beyond. Their catalog comprises of literally thousands of classic reggae tunes, spanning over 5 decades from the 1970's right up to recent years. Hugely influential as well as versatile, the duo were also the backing to Jamaican singer, and superstar, Grace Jones' first 3 albums, proving their mastery in multiple genres, not just reggae, but funk, hip hop, and jazz too.
