Dub On Tap 5!!Stroud's premium Dub & Reggae night, DUB ON TAP returns for it's 5th installment!
This time, our DJs will be digging deep in their vinyl collections for all things ROOTS!
Plus, our headline set will be from Stroud's very own YAKSHA, alongside King David Horns and a very special guest vocalist, Matilda Bruch.
Found in Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist texts, the name Yaksha references a broad class of nature spirits that are guardians of the natural treasures hidden within the earth and tree roots. One of Yaksha’s main musical inspirations is his father, King David Horns, a respected trombonist who has played alongside many reggae greats.
Residing in Bristol, Yaksha started his label ‘Yaksha Sounds’ in 2019 and has since released collaborations with Joe Yorke, Alpha Steppa, Fikir Amlak, Nga Han, Ashanti Selah, Dan I Locks, Alpha & Omega, and Martin Melody; Receiving support from the likes of Aba Shanti, Dennis Bovell, and King Shiloh.
Representing, Vinyl Sisters & Kane FM. Roots, RockSteady, Reggaesoul, and SKA specialist Kaya M will be gracing the Dub On Tap turntables with her strictly vinyl selctions.
Dub on Tap resident, and representing Valley Steppas. Shaybae is easily now one of the counties most in demand selectas. Expect her usual array of classic reggae and dub bangers.
Dave Andrews, Known as 'King David Horns' is a well known established well-established trombonist with over 35 years' of experience in the field. He has played alongside the likes of Lee Scratch Perry, Horace Andy, Dawn Penn, Nick Mannasseh, Alpha Steppa to name a few. He has recently featured on recordings with Joe Yorke, The Co-Operators, Roots Hitek, Alpha Steppa & Lewis Bennet.
Martin Fishley a.k.a Martin Melody started his singing career as a youth in his home city of Gloucester in the U.K. He started singing on Reggae sounds systems at a young age, and it did not take long for Martin to be snapped up by various artists and producers who wanted to collaborate. It was at this point that Martin and others realised he had a talent for songwriting as well as singing. Martins first song was Jump Up which was released on Solar Dub records in 1995.
