The market is a space that our partners at The Office of Jason T Hyman have been curating for people to connect and incubate small businesses. It is also a pilot for a network of micro retail spaces along Emancipation and other corridors in our community. We see activating underutilized spaces in this way as a solution for unwanted activity and revitalizing corridors while providing space for local entrepreneurs to thrive. As operator of the space, The 3rd Ward Real Estate Council will be seeking more program partners, sponsors, and volunteers to fill our calendar.
Now that the space is ready for use, we want to kick things off by cleaning the area, which includes painting the existing blighted building. We will be looking to primarily do the 3 activities below. All supplies and equipment will be available, but well need help with volunteers and any potential sponsors. After this day the market will be ready for murals by local artists and ongoing pop ups.
