Join photographer Georgina Valentine on this day workshop to learn how to use your DSLR camera. In this workshop Georgina will teach you the fundamentals of portraiture photography through examples, demos and a mini practical. You will explore how an understanding of natural light, lenses and even tiny alterations to composition can transform your portrait photography.
You will develop the skills, using your camera’s semi-automatic settings, to control how much of your image is in focus, and learn how to freeze motion so you can capture even the most active of subjects. We will strip away the jargon and bring the technical (shutter speed/aperture/ISO) to life.
After lunch, you will head out to Abbey Grounds to put what you have learnt into practise. You will do this through a combination of themed photo challenges and freestyling to see where your eye takes you. Georgina will be on hand throughout to guide you and answer your questions.
You will then return to the studio to review the photos, and finish by sharing our images and discussing what worked and what didn’t – and why. It’s the ones that don’t quite work to plan that teach us the most.
