Do you have a niche topic of interest that you’ve always wanted to share but haven’t found the place to? As a part of our annual Spoons Week, the ANU Disabilities Student Association is hosting a one-night-only PowerPoint Night!
Come along to the DSA PowerPoint Night and you can either present a 5-minute talk on the topic of your choice to a supportive community of ANU students, or join us as an audience member to be part of the fun without the pressure to prepare.
The DSA will provide snacks to keep you fed throughout the presentations, and will have quiet spaces for you to recharge at any point throughout the night.
When: Friday 15th August 2025, 6pm
Where: The DSA Spoons Space (located in Copland Courtyard, near the community pantry)
This event is autonomous (for disabled ANU students only).
Rules:
Before the Event:
1. All presenters must register their interest to present prior to the event’s start time
2. Presentations must be completed and submitted to the DSA prior to the event’s start time.
Presentation:
1. Each presenter will have 5 minutes allocated to present their PowerPoint on the topic of their choice. After their presentation is finished, they will be allocated an additional 5 minutes of question time from the audience.
2. When 4 minutes have passed, the moderator will hold up a sign indicating the presenter has 1 minute remaining.
3. Once 5 minutes have passed, a timer will sound indicating that the allotted presenting time has concluded. If the presentation is still unfinished, the presenter can continue for an additional 2 minutes, which will be taken from the additional question time.
4. If the additional two minutes have concluded, the presenter must finish their presentation immediately and move to 3 minutes of question time.
5. Once the question time has concluded, no more questions can be asked, and the presenter must rejoin the audience.
Audience:
1. All audience members, like anyone entering the Spoons Space, must adhere to the DSA Safer Spaces Policy. This applies to audience conduct, presenter conduct, and any material in the PowerPoint Presentation.
2. Audience members must adhere to the instructions of the moderators, and maintain respectful and cooperative behaviour throughout the night.
